Thanks a lot FLEMMING ...... for this video of this super-band playing this beautiful "I'm Comin' Virginia". Now being myself nearly 88 years of age, it is terrible to realise this genius BIX only had 28 years to let the world hear his talents. We are glad we have people like Mr. Flemming Thorbye from Denmark to travel to the USA making these fantastic video's of this super-formation.

One of the finest trombonists to be found anywhere today. John Allred is a complete jazz virtuoso. .

I love this tune and this wonderful rendition. All the musicians are at the top of their game.

That's the year I went on the Bix 100 year birthday cruise. In the band was Tom Pletcher, John Otto and Frans Sjostrom on bass sax, and I forget the other players. I was so inspired by listening to this group, I decided I couldn't just keep listening had to start playing again, so a couple years later I came back to the trumpet. I got to play the Bix 'Singin' the Blues' solo at a recital once time. Thank you, Bix, thank you Tom Pletcher. That cruise changed my life, and I'm a working musician now.

I played that classic Bix solo myself at a small concert. If you're a trumpet player doing that tune, you've gotta play that solo. To do anything else would be blasphemous. Great playing by John Otto, but I have to say I missed the Trumbauer solo.
